Anandavana Gurukula

We were fortunate to meet Swami Jnana Svarupa Sananda (formerly Prof. GD Aggrawal of IIT-Kanpur) in the year of 2015, who in our forming years became our main mentor. The way Sri Vishvesh Tirth Swami ji suggested us to start our work in the middle of the city, it was interesting that Swami Jnana Svarupa Sananda ji suggested to have one centre in the laps of nature, far from the city and as per our traditions.

Thus, near Adakamarana village, about 37 km from Bengaluru on Magadi Road, a Sastra Gurukula was established spread across five acres offering a serene and grounded space for learning, away from the rush of the city yet deeply connected to lived realities.

This residential facility is a solution for those who want to study Madhva Philosophy alongwith modern subjects. Here students study as per age old Gurukula method doing Go sewa , Acharya Shushrusha, Krishi, Bhiksha along with their Veda and Shastra Adhyayana. We provide assistance for their studies of contemporary subjects as well.A Day at Ānandavana

A Day at Ānandavana

Life at Ānandavana begins early. The day starts in Brahma Muhūrta with snāna, sandhyā, and Veda pāṭha, setting the tone for discipline, attentiveness, and inner clarity. Śāstra adhyayana takes place under the guidance of Ācārya-s trained in living paramparā-s, where learning is not merely textual but shaped by presence and practice.

During the day, students also engage with contemporary subjects, ensuring that their education remains integrated and relevant. The rhythm of the day allows traditional learning and modern studies to coexist naturally, without one displacing the other.

Living the Learning

The brahmacārī-s at Ānandavana actively participate in the daily responsibilities of the Gurukula. They take care of bhojana, attend to the Gośālā, and share in maintaining the campus. A dedicated support team from the surrounding villages works closely with them, offering guidance and assistance, creating a bond of trust between the Gurukula and the local community.

The campus includes a small farm, a medicinal garden, and an orchard, all cared for by the brahmacārī-s themselves. Through this, students come to understand food, health, and ecology not as abstract ideas, but as part of everyday life.Learning with the World

Learning with the World

All subjects at Ānandavana are studied not only through books, but through direct experience. Students learn from the land, the forests, the water, and from practitioners and experts from various walks of life who share their knowledge through sustained engagement.
This way of learning cultivates responsibility, attentiveness, and a deep sense of relationship with nature and society.

With its Gośālā, open spaces, and simple living, Ānandavana naturally carries an ādhyātmika bhāva. The environment allows learning to unfold quietly, shaped by rhythm, care, and continuity. Here, education is not separated from life. It is lived, day after day, in the presence of nature, teachers, and paramparā.

Curriculum

The Shastra Adhyayana is designed by the Purnaprajna Vidyapitha, Bengaluru Acharyas and along with rthe personalised parikshas taken by scholars, brahmacharis take other parikshas at Karnatak Sanskrit University as well.

For Modern Subjects, examination is taken through NIOS, while the curriculum is a blend of NIOS and various other texts, and study material.
